Three Farm Daughters LLP Bring GoodWheat Technology to Market

Americans get an average of one-quarter or 500 of their calories per day from wheat, and according to the United Nations, bread wheat accounts for +20% of the human diet globally. Startup company “Three Farm Daughters” wants to make sure those calories are as healthy as possible. Working with Arcadia Biosciences, a leader in science-based approaches to enhancing the quality and nutritional value of crops and food ingredients, the ladies are taking the step from farmer to food purveyor.

Growing up in the rich Red River Valley of the North and the maiden name Sproule, the ladies all have extensive experience farming an array of crops, including sugar beets, wheat, durum, hemp for grain, soybeans, corn, edible beans, potatoes, and GoodWheat, which they have been producing for years. You can watch the 2019 GoodWheat harvest HERE on the Sproule Farm.

It’s worth mentioning, baking staples such as flour, baking powder, baking soda, and yeast have been at an all-time high during the coronavirus pandemic. With reports circulating that consumers have spent +125% more on flour than in 2019, it sure seems like the ladies are in the right place at the right time and with the right products! The trio looks to stay in front of consumer demands for healthier and more transparent food options, knowing first-hand as new mothers the difference healthier, quality ingredients make in diets and lifestyles. They’d like to help take the guesswork out of healthy eating for consumers with their products using Arcadia’s specialty wheat ingredients which contain up to 10 times the dietary fiber of traditional wheat, up to -65% less allergenic gluten, and nearly -30% fewer calories per serving than traditional wheat.

Arcadia has two main wheat products. The first is a high-fiber resistant starch GoodWheat variety that contains up to 94% amylose that digests more slowly, meaning, it has a lower glycemic index than traditional wheat and doesn’t cause a rapid increase in blood glucose levels. Their second variety is a reduced gluten GoodWheat that was developed for those with sensitive stomachs who don’t have gluten or wheat allergies, but who want to reduce the amount of gluten in their diets.

I’m told “Three Farm Daughters” is in the process of launching a refined, non-enriched wheat flour for everyday baking and soon thereafter they will release pastas and crackers that leverage the enhanced nutritional profiles of “GoodWheat”. The products will be available for purchase at selected grocery stores, on Amazon, and through the company’s e-commerce site HERE. I should mention, these ladies are fresh out of the gates with a ton of new information coming soon to their website and social media channels.

If you missed it, Arcadia was recently included in the Russell Microcap Index, in which approximately $9 trillion in assets are benchmarked against Russell’s U.S. indexes and will definitely increase investor awareness and broaden their investor base at a time when they are focused on scaling revenues through the sales of GoodHemp™ and now GoodWheat™ seed and grain, according to the company. If you are a food or flour company or think you would like to check out opportunities with Arcadia, you can contact them HERE. I hope the “Sproule’s” story helps inspire some of our other farm families. I always love hearing how families are shifting to and trying new approaches to building a better business.  (Source: Proactive Investor, PRNewswire, Arcadio Bio)
